Alarming Footage Shows Moment Law Enforcement Get Knifed in Ambush
A police sergeant that leaped to the aid of a partner who was ambushed by a knife attacker has been awarded the King's Commendation for Bravery.
Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a blade to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a vehicle incident in the area in mid-2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," the officer stated over his radio.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera recording shared by the police department showed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, approach to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife extended.
He collided with the policeman who stumbled and dropped to the street, before Sgt Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground although being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and waited for a open target, ending the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "I need something on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the throat."
Sergeant Ansell received multiple lacerations to his neck and additional injuries to his limbs and torso, while Sergeant Foster suffered knife wounds.
Authorities reported Sergeant Foster employed his hands to stem his partner's blood loss before emergency responders came.
This most recent award arrives subsequent to the three officers were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the area Police Federation in spring 2024.
They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in summer 2024.
"The responses of the entire team eventually saved one another and resulted in no bystanders suffered any injuries."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
