Countless Join Pro-Palestinian Rallies as Organisers Pledge to Keep Protesting

Tens of thousands assembled in various Australian cities at pro-Palestine demonstrations, with organisers pledging to continue protesting after a peace arrangement negotiated by the American leader in Gaza initially appeared to be holding.

Sydney Demonstration Gathers Substantial Attendance

In Sydney, the activist collective announced 30,000 people had demonstrated from the central park to another city park in the central business district after a scheduled protest to the famous building was restricted by the New South Wales court of appeal last week.

NSW police assessed a crowd of 8,000 joined the local rally, with a spokesperson saying there had been "peaceful proceedings".

Countrywide Protests Remember Occasion

Protests were also held in Victoria's capital, eastern city and Perth on the day of protest to remember two years of killing in Gaza after militant actions on October 7th, 2023 resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths in the neighboring country.

"Regarding our cause, we'll definitely persist to demonstrate for Palestinian freedom... for local governance, for humanitarian assistance to enter and for residents to restore their communities," stated an activist.

Mixed Reactions to Peace Deal

Various participants voiced optimism that the ceasefire would lead to lasting peace. Others were sceptical of Trump's involvement and urged supporters to maintain pressure on the national authorities to impose restrictions and end the trade in military goods.

One protester, a Palestinian Australian residing in the city, expressed he wished the deal might enable him to assist his senior relative, who is still in Gaza without access to medical care, to Australia, and to locate and inter his sibling, his wife and their kids, who have been unaccounted for since that year.

Jewish Community Conducts Service

Separately, many individuals participated in a Jewish memorial service on the evening in the city's eastern areas to remember the occasion of 7 October. One speaker, the relative of a victim, an Australian citizen who was killed during the attacks, was scheduled to speak.

There were prayers for the imminent repatriation of those still detained in the region and those who lost their lives. The Israeli ambassador, the official, recognized the strength of victims. The participants reacted negatively when he spoke about the head of government and the top diplomat.

Flotilla Participants Describe Ordeals

Sydney's pro-Palestine rally earlier included testimonies including multiple nationals released from Israeli detention after the interception of the Sumud flotilla recently.

A participant, his arm in a sling after it was reportedly injured in an Israeli prison, informed that insufficient information was available about the truce arrangement. Worldwide assistance agencies, including Unrwa and Unicef, were organizing to reach the region.

"As long as there is a situation where there's a brutal and illegal blockade on the region," said the activist, maritime demonstrators would keep working to bring support through maritime routes.

Abubakir Rafiq, who came back to the city on Friday, gave an emotional speech sharing his captivity experience with dozens of fellow detainees in Israel's Ketziot prison.

Official Comments

The political representative the politician told the crowd: "It's unacceptable to permit a reality where the former president decides the destiny of Palestinians to be the type of reality we accept."

One activist who made the first proposal to protest at the iconic venue asserted that the participants could have peacefully gone to the iconic waterfront location. The law enforcement official had earlier informed the court of appeal that the arrangement appeared dangerous.

The activist commented during the protest: "On each occasion the police attempt to oppose our demonstrations or court proceedings, it increases community attention... to the need to mobilise and stand up against it."
