New England Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five touchdowns during the current campaign
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady period as they overcame division opponents the Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad notched an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
QB Maye threw for 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets bottom after dropping to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series
But the New England answered in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone in the middle of the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of the rookie. "He desires to be great."
Justin Fields found Metchie late in the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the win
