The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Classic Games
Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
